Connecticut Superior Court

The Connecticut Superior Court is the Connecticut state trial court of general jurisdiction. It hears all matters other than those heard by the Connecticut Probate Courts. For purposes of administration, the state is divided into 15 judicial districts and 14 juvenile districts:

  • Ansonia-Milford – based in Milford
  • Middlesex – based in Middletown
  • Tolland – based in Rockville
  • Danbury
  • New Britain – based in New Britain
  • Waterbury – based in Waterbury
  • Fairfield
  • New Haven
  • Windham
  • Hartford
  • New London
  • Litchfield
  • Stamford-Norwalk

The court is somewhat divided into four trial divisions: civil, criminal, family, and housing. (The housing division is only found in the Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Stamford-Norwalk, and Waterbury districts, with the civil division handling housing cases in all other districts).

Famous quotes containing the words superior and/or court:

I sometimes feel a great ennui, profound emptiness, doubts which sneer in my face in the midst of the most spontaneous satisfactions. Well, I would not exchange all that for anything, because it seems to me, in my conscience, that I am doing my duty, that I am obeying a superior fatality, that I am following the Good and that I am in the Right.
    Gustave Flaubert (1821–1880)

Rome, like Washington, is small enough, quiet enough, for strong personal intimacies; Rome, like Washington, has its democratic court and its entourage of diplomatic circle; Rome, like Washington, gives you plenty of time and plenty of sunlight. In New York we have annihilated both.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)
