Other Applications of Confidence Bands
Confidence bands arise whenever a statistical analysis focuses on estimating a function.
For example, confidence bands can be constructed around estimates of the empirical distribution function. Simple theory allows the construction of point-wise confidence intervals, but it is also possible to construct a simultaneous confidence band for the cumulative distribution function as a whole by inverting the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, or by using non-parametric likelihood methods .
Confidence bands have also been devised for estimates of density functions, spectral density functions, quantile functions, scatterplot smooths, survival functions, and characteristic functions.

Famous quotes containing the words confidence and/or bands:
“If we parents accept that problems are an essential part of lifes challenges, rather than reacting to every problem as if something has gone wrong with universe thats supposed to be perfect, we can demonstrate serenity and confidence in problem solving for our kids....By telling them that we know they have a problem and we know they can solve it, we can pass on a realistic attitude as well as empower our children with self-confidence and a sense of their own worth.”
—Barbara Coloroso (20th century)
“With girls, everything looks great on the surface. But beware of drawers that wont open. They contain a three-month supply of dirty underwear, unwashed hose, and rubber bands with blobs of hair in them.”
—Erma Bombeck (20th century)
