Colonial Heights High School - Sports

Sports

The Colonial Heights athletic teams are referred to as the Colonials. Their Athletic logos are a minuteman holding a Revolutionary War era musket, and the Flying Elvis head (very similar to the New England Patriots logo). Colonials colors are Red, White, and Blue.

The Colonials' main rivals are: the Thomas Dale High School, Prince George High School, Matoaca High School, Petersburg High School and Hopewell High School.

Soccer for the Colonials is on the rise. In the 2006-07 season, the Colonials made it to the VHSL Central District Finals, where they lost to defending state champions, Thomas Dale High School.

Famous quotes containing the word sports:

In the end, I think you really only get as far as you’re allowed to get.
Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 87 (June 17, 1991)

In the past, it seemed to make sense for a sportswriter on sabbatical from the playpen to attend the quadrennial hawgkilling when Presidential candidates are chosen, to observe and report upon politicians at play. After all, national conventions are games of a sort, and sports offers few spectacles richer in low comedy.
    Walter Wellesley (Red)

...I didn’t come to this with any particular cachet. I was just a person who grew up in the United States. And when I looked around at the people who were sportscasters, I thought they were just people who grew up in the United States, too. So I thought, Why can’t a woman do it? I just assumed everyone else would think it was a swell idea.
Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 85 (June 17, 1991)
