College Publisher

College Publisher is an online hosted college newspaper system used by hundreds of college newspapers around the United States. The product is an application service provider that provides web site design and hosting. In exchange for providing the web hosting service, the company receives national advertising rights on website, the email news version, and the physical print edition of the newspaper. College Publisher currently has partnered with more than 450 publications nationwide, comprising the largest network of online student newspapers in the United States.

College Publisher was created in 1999 by Emerson College students and is largely operated by recent graduates. The system is owned by Y2M Networks, located in Government Center, Boston, Massachusetts, which was purchased in August 2006 by mtvU. A private investment group acquired College Publisher from mtvU in 2010.

The CP servers were hit with an DDoS attack in early Feb. 2010, causing a large number of student publications to lose multiple weeks worth of content. The issue has not been resolved as of the end of March 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words college and/or publisher:

The logical English train a scholar as they train an engineer. Oxford is Greek factory, as Wilton mills weave carpet, and Sheffield grinds steel. They know the use of a tutor, as they know the use of a horse; and they draw the greatest amount of benefit from both. The reading men are kept by hard walking, hard riding, and measured eating and drinking, at the top of their condition, and two days before the examination, do not work but lounge, ride, or run, to be fresh on the college doomsday.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

A publisher is a specialised form of bank or building society, catering for customers who cannot cope with life and are therefore forced to write about it.
    Colin Haycraft (b. 1929)
