Famous quotes containing the words cort, thinking and/or tools:
“You are to the Nineties what lava lamps were to the Seventies.”
—Robert Altman, U.S. director, screenwriter, and Barbara Shulgasser. Cort Romney (Richard E. Grant)
“It is remarkable that almost all speakers and writers feel it to be incumbent on them, sooner or later, to prove or acknowledge the personality of God. Some Earl of Bridgewater, thinking it better late than never, has provided for it in his will. It is a sad mistake.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“At the utmost, the active-minded young man should ask of his teacher only mastery of his tools. The young man himself, the subject of education, is a certain form of energy; the object to be gained is economy of his force; the training is partly the clearing away of obstacles, partly the direct application of effort. Once acquired, the tools and models may be thrown away.”
—Henry Brooks Adams (18381918)
