Coconut (song) - Other Cover Versions

Other Cover Versions

Yale's all male a cappella group, the Alley Cats, traditionally sings this song as the closing song of their performances. Other cover versions of the song have been recorded by The Baha Men, Jimmy Buffett, Fred Schneider, Lazlo Bane, Sprung Monkey, P.M. Dawn, and, according to a Nilsson website, the Alice Cooper Band.

It has also appeared in many films (including Daddy Day Care, Practical Magic, Wag the Dog, and Reservoir Dogs), TV shows (including The Simpsons, ChalkZone, The Muppet Show, Bones, and House) and the video game Alan Wake.

The song was also used in a 2005 ad campaign for Coca-Cola, debuting their Coke with Lime product.

Famous quotes containing the words cover and/or versions:

Again we have here two distinctions that are no distinctions, but made to seem so by terms invented by I know not whom to cover ignorance, and blind the understanding of the reader: for it cannot be conceived that there is any liberty greater, than for a man to do what he will.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)

The assumption must be that those who can see value only in tradition, or versions of it, deny man’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
    Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
