History

Claudy suffered 13 fatalities during The Troubles, amounting to one per cent of its 2001 population. The death rate in Belfast, by comparison, was equivalent to just over half a percent, and that in Derry a quarter of a percent. Nine of the 13 people killed died in the Claudy bombing in which three car bombs exploded on Main Street.
