Chiron Corporation - The End of Chiron

The End of Chiron

Novartis Corporation was the result of a merger between Sandoz Laboratories and Ciba-Geigy in 1994 and owned slightly less than half of Chiron as part of a Federal Trade Commission order. Several of Sandoz’s subsidiaries were sold off for reasons of anti monopoly legislation. In 2005, Novartis made an offer to buy Chiron. Initially this offer was rebuffed, but after the bid was substantially enhanced, Chiron was sold, and became part of Novartis in April, 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words the end of, the end:

Until the end of the Middle Ages, and in many cases afterwards too, in order to obtain initiation in a trade of any sort whatever—whether that of courtier, soldier, administrator, merchant or workman—a boy did not amass the knowledge necessary to ply that trade before entering it, but threw himself into it; he then acquired the necessary knowledge.
    Philippe Ariés (20th century)

And now that the end is near
The segments of the trip swing open like an orange.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
