If the Minister of Defense is a civilian the Chief of the General Staff becomes the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The current Chief of the General Staff is Colonel General Volodymyr Zamana.

Famous quotes containing the words chief, general and/or staff:

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What will you give me if I betray him to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver.
Bible: New Testament, Matthew 26:14 ,15.

Without metaphor the handling of general concepts such as culture and civilization becomes impossible, and that of disease and disorder is the obvious one for the case in point. Is not crisis itself a concept we owe to Hippocrates? In the social and cultural domain no metaphor is more apt than the pathological one.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

For the first fourteen years for a rod they do whine,
For the next as a pearl in the world they do shine,
For the next trim beauty beginneth to swerve,
For the next matrons or drudges they serve,
For the next doth crave a staff for a stay,
For the next a bier to fetch them away.
    Thomas Tusser (c. 1520–1580)
