Chicago and North Western Historical Society - Annual Meets

Annual Meets

As previously mentioned, the CNWHS sponsors a gathering every year at a former CNW location. Modeling clinics, slide shows, open forums in which CNWHS officers and members can interact and share ideas, tour of the surrounding area, and a Saturday banquet are usually a part of each meet.

There are also three smaller regional meets per year, inviting CNWHS members in the respective membership districts of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. While only members in or near these states are invited, all members are able to attend if they so wish.

Famous quotes containing the words annual and/or meets:

...there was the annual Fourth of July picketing at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. ...I thought it was ridiculous to have to go there in a skirt. But I did it anyway because it was something that might possibly have an effect. I remember walking around in my little white blouse and skirt and tourists standing there eating their ice cream cones and watching us like the zoo had opened.
Martha Shelley, U.S. author and social activist. As quoted in Making History, part 3, by Eric Marcus (1992)

In the domain of Political Economy, free scientific inquiry meets not merely the same enemies as in all other domains. The peculiar nature of the material it deals with, summons as foes into the field of battle the most violent, mean and malignant passions of the human breast, the Furies of private interest.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)
