Charlotte Brabantina of Nassau - Biography

Biography

Countess Charlotte Brabantina, her sister Elisabeth and their stepmother Louise de Coligny went to Paris in 1593. Elisabeth married Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Duke of Bouillon and at that wedding Charlotte Brabantine met the Claude, Duc de Thouars, whom she married in 1598. The Duke died only six years later, leaving Charlotte Brabantina a widow. They had four children:

  • Henry de La Trémoille, who married his first cousin, Marie de La Tour d'Auvergne. They had children.
  • Charlotte Stanley, Countess of Derby, who married James Stanley, Earl of Derby
  • Élisabeth (1601–1604)
  • Frédéric (1602–1642) comte de Laval.
