About Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District

The district encompasses 53.42 square miles (138.4 km2) and is located primarily in northwest Dallas County with a smaller portion in southeast Denton County. The school district's boundaries are not the same as municipal boundaries; therefore, Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District provides instructional services to children who live in portions of Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Coppell, Dallas, and Irving.

Dr. Bobby Burns has served as the Superintendent since July 1, 2009. He was previously named acting Superintendent in October 2008 after the resignation of his predecessor, Dr. Annette T. Griffin.

Famous quotes containing the words branch, independent, school and/or district:

The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is true.
    —James Branch Cabell (1879–1958)

The ex-Presidential situation has its advantages, but with them are certain drawbacks. The correspondence is large. The meritorious demands on one are large. More independent out than in place, but still something of the bondage of the place that was willingly left. On the whole, however, I find many reasons to be content.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

After school days are over, the girls ... find no natural connection between their school life and the new one on which they enter, and are apt to be aimless, if not listless, needing external stimulus, and finding it only prepared for them, it may be, in some form of social excitement. ...girls after leaving school need intellectual interests, well regulated and not encroaching on home duties.
    Ellen Henrietta Swallow Richards (1842–1911)

Most works of art, like most wines, ought to be consumed in the district of their fabrication.
    Rebecca West (1892–1983)
