Charles Dickens Elementary School

Charles Dickens Elementary School

Charles Dickens Elementary is a public elementary school in Vancouver, British Columbia. The school is part of School District 39 Vancouver. Dickens is different from other Vancouver public schools in that it has multi-age classes throughout the school (e.g., classes with 2-3 grades mixed together and students stay with the same teacher for up to 3 years). Teachers also have formal team-teaching arrangements with teachers in other classes. Dickens does not issue letter grades in report cards: reports from K-7 include detailed anecdotal comments on what each child is able to perform.

Famous quotes containing the words charles dickens, dickens, elementary and/or school:

“I took a good deal o’ pains with his eddication, sir; let him run in the streets when he was wery young, and shift for his-self. It’s the only way to make a boy sharp, sir.”
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

I revere the memory of Mr. F. as an estimable man and most indulgent husband, only necessary to mention Asparagus and it appeared or to hint at any little delicate thing to drink and it came like magic in a pint bottle; it was not ecstasy but it was comfort.
    —Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

If men as individuals surrender to the call of their elementary instincts, avoiding pain and seeking satisfaction only for their own selves, the result for them all taken together must be a state of insecurity, of fear, and of promiscuous misery.
    Albert Einstein (1879–1955)

I’m tired of playing worn-out depressing ladies in frayed bathrobes. I’m going to get a new hairdo and look terrific and go back to school and even if nobody notices, I’m going to be the most self-fulfilled lady on the block.
    Joanne Woodward (b. 1930)
