Charged-particle Radiation Therapy

Charged-particle radiation therapy is a type of external radiation therapy that uses a particle accelerator to fire high-energy particles (such as protons or carbon nuclei) that kill cancer cells. This method causes less damage to nearby healthy tissue than traditional radiation therapy with high-energy X-rays due to the Bragg Peak effect.

Famous quotes containing the words radiation and/or therapy:

There are no accidents, only nature throwing her weight around. Even the bomb merely releases energy that nature has put there. Nuclear war would be just a spark in the grandeur of space. Nor can radiation “alter” nature: she will absorb it all. After the bomb, nature will pick up the cards we have spilled, shuffle them, and begin her game again.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)

Show business is the best possible therapy for remorse.
    Anita Loos (1888–1981)
