Municipality
The municipality Chania was formed at the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the following 7 former municipalities, that became municipal units:
- Akrotiri
- Chania
- Eleftherios Venizelos
- Keramia
- Nea Kydonia
- Souda
- Theriso
