Demography
As of April 2001, the Chandler's Ford and Hiltingbury council wards (which form a continuous built-up area, and make up the main part of what is referred to as "Chandler's Ford") had a population of 20,071, across 8,334 households. The ethnicity of the population was mainly white, with only 151 mixed race people, 302 Asian or Asian British people, 37 Black or Black British people and 129 in other ethnic groups. In 2001, 15,646 of the population were Christians, 2,884 professed no religion, and 1,154 did not state their religious beliefs. There were 36 Buddhists, 72 Hindus, 22 Jews, 90 Muslims, 112 Sikhs and 55 people of other religions living in the ward.
