The House System
Chaminade began The House System in 2003. Based on Houses found in many overseas schools, Chaminade has five houses, and each student belongs to one of the five Houses: Gray, Lamourous, Mauclerc, Meyer and O’Donnell. Each student also belongs to a Mentor Group which meets daily for fifteen minutes. The Mentor Group is somewhat like a homeroom period but the Mentor Groups is led by seniors rather than a teacher, and a Mentor Group contains either 6th, 7th and 8th graders, or freshmen, sophomores and juniors. A student is in the same House the entire time he is at Chaminade, and belongs to the same Mentor Group for three years. The House System allows students to get to know many students across all grade levels, and it helps seniors to learn valuable leadership skills by leading a daily Mentor Group. Students wear their House polo shirt on Fridays as a House activity takes place most Fridays during the school year.

Famous quotes containing the words house and/or system:
“[They] hired a large house as a receptacle for gentlewomen, who either had no fortunes, or so little that it would not support them. For these they made the most comfortable institution [and] provided [them] with all conveniences for rural amusements, a library, musical instruments, and implements for various works.”
—Sarah Fielding (17101768)
“Delight at having understood a very abstract and obscure system leads most people to believe in the truth of what it demonstrates.”
—G.C. (Georg Christoph)
