Central Division (WHL)

Central Division (WHL)

The WHL's Central Division was formed in 2001 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment, the predecessor of which was the Central Division. As its name suggests, the division predominantly consists of the five Alberta teams. In 2004, A minor change saw the Kootenay Ice move to the Central Division to accommodate the expansion Chilliwack Bruins. Prior to the 2007-08 season which saw the expansion Edmonton Oil Kings join, the Swift Current Broncos moved to the East Division to accommodate the team. The aforementioned league realignment divided the WHL into two conferences of two divisions each: Eastern Conference: East Division; Central Division; Western Conference: B.C. Division; and the U.S. Division.

Famous quotes containing the words central and/or division:

Incarnate devil in a talking snake,
The central plains of Asia in his garden,
In shaping-time the circle stung awake,
In shapes of sin forked out the bearded apple....
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

For in the division of the nations of the whole earth he set a ruler over every people; but Israel is the Lord’s portion: whom, being his firstborn, he nourisheth with discipline, and giving him the light of his love doth not forsake him. Therefore all their works are as the sun before him, and his eyes are continually upon their ways.
    Apocrypha. Ecclesiasticus 17:17-9.
