Cedric Minter - Early Years

Early Years

Minter's father served in the U.S. Air Force, and was transferred to Mountain Home AFB in Idaho in 1959, when Cedric was a few months old. A year later the family moved to nearby Boise, where he grew up and played his high school football in the mid-1970s for Borah High School under head coach Delane "De" Pankratz. Minter had outstanding seasons for the Lions as a sophomore and junior; the Lions went undefeated in 1975 and Minter had the attention of the top college football programs. But after incurring a shoulder injury on the first play of his senior season in 1976, the attention rapidly subsided. Oregon and Kansas were still interested, but only Boise State in his hometown was interested in him as a 170 lb (77 kg) running back.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or years:

I realized how for all of us who came of age in the late sixties and early seventies the war was a defining experience. You went or you didn’t, but the fact of it and the decisions it forced us to make marked us for the rest of our lives, just as the depression and World War II had marked my parents.
    Linda Grant (b. 1949)

To-morrow I will have finished four-score years. I have lived to rise from the most despised and hated woman in all the world of fifty years ago, until now it seems as if I am loved by you all. If this is true, then I am indeed satisfied.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)
