History
Cecil County was created in 1674 by proclamation of the Governor. It was created from portions of Baltimore and Kent Counties. One of the earliest developers of the county was George Talbot appointed Surveyor-General of Maryland in 1683, who came from Ballyconnell, County Cavan, Ireland.
The county has a number of properties on the National Register of Historic Places.
