Natural Occurrences
(+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin are found in land plants such as the traditional Chinese medicine plant Uncaria rhynchophylla. Potentilla fragarioides, also used in traditional Chinese medicine, contains D-catechin. (+)-Catechin is also found in the green alga Myriophyllum spicatum.
