Carson Drew

Carson Drew is a fictional character in the popular Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series. He is Nancy's father, a widower, and is the most respected lawyer in River Heights. He is brown-haired and has blue eyes like his daughter. He is a lawyer. Nancy's Aunt Eloise is his sister. He enlists the help of his daughter for many of his cases. Carson Drew gets along well with Nancy throughout the series' earlier volumes, and admires her skills greatly, but in the cinematic releases and later books in the series, he argues with Nancy frequently. He assists Nancy in many of her cases, giving guidance both professionally and as a father. He also makes good use of his professional connections and privileges to help Nancy solve her cases. He frequently leaves Nancy to her sleuthing while he travels on business. On numerous occasions, Nancy has had to save her father from danger, including several kidnappings. Nancy and her father get along fairly well, in the older books especially, and Mr. Drew is always proud of Nancy when she has solved, and finished a case.

I think those Southern writers [William Faulkner, Carson McCullers] have analyzed very carefully the buildup in the South of a special consciousness brought about by the self- condemnation resulting from slavery, the humiliation following the War Between the States and the hope, sometimes expressed timidly, for redemption.

It is getting dark and time he drew to a house,
But the blizzard blinds him to any house ahead.
The storm gets down his neck in any icy souse
That sucks his breath like a wicked cat in bed.
