Carry On Laughing's Christmas Classics (1983)

It would be ten years before the next Christmas special. Carry On Laughing's Christmas Classics saw Kenneth Williams and Barbara Windsor introduce some of the funniest moments from the later Carry On films, in a format very similar to the film That's Carry On!. Although people would see this as a fifth special, it is a compilation of clips from the films, and so not officially counted as a Christmas special.

Famous quotes containing the words carry, laughing, christmas and/or classics:

Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
    Bible: Hebrew Ecclesiastes 10:20.

Earth and I gave you turquoise
    when you walked singing
We lived laughing in my house
    and told old stories
    N. Scott Momaday (b. 1934)

    The seventh day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
    Seven swans a-swimming.
—Unknown. The Twelve Days of Christmas (l. 34–36)

How to attain sufficient clarity of thought to meet the terrifying issues now facing us, before it is too late, is ... important. Of one thing I feel reasonably sure: we can’t stop to discuss whether the table has or hasn’t legs when the house is burning down over our heads. Nor do the classics per se seem to furnish the kind of education which fits people to cope with a fast-changing civilization.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)
