Carol Noonan - Stone Mountain Arts Center

Stone Mountain Arts Center

In 2006 she pulled off what seemed to be the impossible and put up a music hall called the Stone Mountain Arts Center behind her 200 year old farmhouse in rural Brownfield, Maine. Since its inceptions national acts Like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Richie Havens, Aaron Neville, Joan Armatrading and Bela Fleck have graced the stage as well as Noonan who does a once a month musical jamboree show called Stone Mountain LIVE. With a top notch house band, featuring guitarists Duke Levine and Kevin Barry, the show has attracted guests from Noonan’s past and present music life national and otherwise.

The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a family affair with Carol (when she is not performing)and Jeff in the kitchen and sister Katy in the office."SMAC" as locals refer to it, love it for its intimacy and personal touch.The audience gets an up close and personal concert experience (the hall holds under 200)and the performer gets the royal treatment..their green room is now world famous. Noonan has a unique insight to what musicians on the road will need and how to make them happy.

Famous quotes containing the words stone, mountain, arts and/or center:

    We shall exchange our material thinking for something quite different, and we shall all be kin. We shall all be enfranchised, prohibition will prevail, many wrongs will be righted, vampires and grafters and slackers will be relegated to a class by themselves, stiff necks will limber up, hearts of stone will be changed to hearts of flesh, and little by little we shall begin to understand each other.
    —General Federation Of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)

    The mountain sheep are sweeter,
    But the valley sheep are fatter;
    We therefore deemed it meeter
    To carry off the latter.
    Thomas Love Peacock (1785–1866)

    If it were not for the intellectual snobs who pay—in solid cash—the tribute which philistinism owes to culture, the arts would perish with their starving practitioners. Let us thank heaven for hypocrisy.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

    Every beloved object is the center point of a paradise.
    Novalis [Friedrich Von Hardenberg] (1772–1801)
