Campionato Nazionale Primavera

Campionato Nazionale Primavera

The Campionato Nazionale Primavera – Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti, is an Italian football competition played by the youth teams of all the Serie A and all the Serie B clubs, and is organized by the Football League. All players must be under 20, but two overaged are allowed in eliminatory rounds. The first edition was held in the 1962–63 season but at that time there were two champions because Serie A and Serie B teams played in two different tournaments. Since the 1969–70 season they were unified. On December 16, 2006 it was named in memory of former Internazionale captain and chairman Giacinto Facchetti. It literally translates to "Spring" National Championship, relating the opening season of the year with the young age of the players.

Due to sponsorship reasons, the league is officially called Campionato Primavera Tim – Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti, as Telecom Italia Mobile has sponsored the Coppa Italia, Serie A, Serie B, Campionato Nazionale Primavera and Coppa Italia Primavera.
