Cage Fury Fighting Championships 5 - TWO WORLDS, ONE CAGE. was a mixed martial arts event held by Cage Fury Fighting Championships, and their first on pay-per-view. The event took place Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

CFFC:5 featured the mixed martial arts debut of Kimbo Slice, a bare knuckle street brawler from Miami, Florida. Slice's opponent was 'Merciless' Ray Mercer, an American professional boxer and former WBO World Heavyweight Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist that resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina, also made his MMA debut.

Kimbo Slice won the fight in the first round with a guillotine choke submission.

Mercer had missed a guillotine choke opportunity and paid the price. Kimbo added insult to injury, as he refused to let go, further aggravating the pain for mercer. When he finally let go, Mercer very irrate punched Slice's chest in anger and later was restrained by the referee and officials.

Mercer later stated in the press conference at Adrenaline III: Bragging Rights, when he was scheduled to fight Tim Sylvia under MMA rules instead of boxing rules, that he had expected Kimbo Slice to box with him and said that he did not really train in any other aspect of MMA and was unprepared for the guillotine choke.

Famous quotes containing the words cage, fury and/or fighting:

A work in progress quickly becomes feral. It reverts to a wild state overnight. It is barely domesticated, a mustang on which you one day fastened a halter, but which now you cannot catch. It is a lion you cage in your study. As the work grows, it gets harder to control; it is a lion growing in strength. You must visit it every day and reassert your mastery over it. If you skip a day, you are, quite rightly, afraid to open the door to its room.
    Annie Dillard (b. 1945)

The house waited on your private beach
    each day,
when you had the time to return to her.
And you so often had the time,
even when fury blew out her chimney,
even when love lifted the shingles....
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

In a toddler’s mind, agreeing with you means that he is indistinguishable from you.... The adamant little tot is fighting hard to solidify a personal sense of Self. Selfhood sometimes requires great sacrifice and often precludes cooperation.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)
