Burton Agnes

Burton Agnes is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the A614 mid way between Driffield and Bridlington. Places of interest include an Elizabethan Manor House, Burton Agnes Hall and a Norman Manor House, Burton Agnes Manor House. There is also a Church dedicated to St Martin.

The civil parish is formed by the village of Burton Agnes and the hamlets of Gransmoor and Thornholme. According to the 2001 UK census, Burton Agnes parish had a population of 496.

The village is home to an annual Scarecrow festival which sees the village adorned with many imaginatively decorated scarecrows. The Scarecrow festival started in 2004 and was thought up by a group of children doing lifestyle and originally made the festival to raise money.

Burton Agnes is also home to a small primary school midway up Rudston Road. There are also playing fields up Rudston Road near the cemetery. These are home to both football and cricket teams, and there is a small bowls field near the football pitch. On Sunday mornings Bridlington Archery Club comes to do their archery.

Burton Agnes railway station on the Yorkshire Coast Line from Hull to Scarborough served the village until it closed on 5 January 1970.
