Bumrungrad International Hospital - Health Information Management

Health Information Management

The hospital manages patient information utilizing an integrated hospital information system that uses electronic medical records and digital radiology systems. A case study by Intel Corporation revealed that Bumrungrad commissioned the development of a custom total hospital information system to service both the front office and back office in 1999.

The system is a key to achieving rapid scheduling of services and efficient use of resources as reported in articles that by adapting the hospital information system, the hospital eliminates paper and waiting time. The system also helps the potential outbreak of viruses and other disease by eliminating the constant handling of records by human hands. The addition of “robotic” technology maximizes both safety and efficiency. Utilizing a Swisslog system, medications selected and delivered in a way that drastically reduces the potential for medication errors.

Global Care Solutions (GCS) became one of the hospital's IT partners which has improved and maintained this integrated total hospital information system, called Hospital 2000. In January 2008, GCS was acquired by Microsoft's Health Solutions Group. The system was renamed Amalga HIS in 2008.

Famous quotes containing the words health, information and/or management:

The health of the soul is something we can be no more sure of than that of the body; and though a man may seem far from the passions, yet he is in as much danger of falling into them as one in a perfect state of health of having a fit of sickness.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

Many more children observe attitudes, values and ways different from or in conflict with those of their families, social networks, and institutions. Yet today’s young people are no more mature or capable of handling the increased conflicting and often stimulating information they receive than were young people of the past, who received the information and had more adult control of and advice about the information they did receive.
    James P. Comer (20th century)

The management of fertility is one of the most important functions of adulthood.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)
