Buji Railway Station

Shenzhen East Railway Station (深圳东站), formerly Buji Railway Station (布吉站), serves the town of Buji, Shenzhen, in Guangdong, China. It is a stop on the Guangzhou–Shenzhen Railway.

The station opened in 1911 as a freight and Level 3 passenger station (三等站) on the Kowloon–Canton Railway. Initial renovation works commenced in 2004. The station building was demolished in April 2008, and work began on the construction of a new passenger hub that was completed by the end of October 2012. In September 2012, it was announced that the new station would be named "Shenzhen East Station". The Shenzhen East name was originally assigned to a proposed Longgang Station on the Xiamen–Shenzhen Railway currently under construction.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or station:

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)
