Buffy Waltrip - Car Owner

Car Owner

Michael Waltrip Racing was formed as a Busch Series team in 1996 with Michael and Buffy Waltrip as co-owners. The team ran Busch (now Nationwide Nationwide Series) Series races as primarily a single car team until it was announced that Toyota would start racing in the Sprint Cup series (NASCAR's premiere division) starting in 2007. MWR was select by Toyota as the lead team for the manufacturer, so the team developed the engine package used by the Toyota teams. Buffy was named as the car owner of the #55 car, then-driven by her husband Michael Waltrip. Martin Truex Jr. now drives the #56 NAPA Toyota. Michael Waltrip Racing also fields a car driven by David Reutimann and will (in 2012) field a car sponsored (for the majority of Sprint Cup races) by 5-Hour Energy for Clint Bowyer.

Famous quotes containing the words car and/or owner:

The car as we know it is on the way out. To a large extent, I deplore its passing, for as a basically old- fashioned machine, it enshrines a basically old-fashioned idea: freedom. In terms of pollution, noise and human life, the price of that freedom may be high, but perhaps the car, by the very muddle and confusion it causes, may be holding back the remorseless spread of the regimented, electronic society.
    —J.G. (James Graham)

Those Maine woods differ essentially from ours. There you are never reminded that the wilderness which you are threading is, after all, some villager’s familiar wood-lot, some widow’s thirds, from which her ancestors have sledded fuel for generations, minutely described in some old deed which is recorded, of which the owner has got a plan, too, and old bound-marks may be found every forty rods, if you will search.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
