Bucks County Sharks

The Bucks County Sharks are a rugby league football team based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The team played in the American National Rugby League (AMNRL) from 1998–2009 and rejoined the league for the 2011 season.

Originally known as the New Jersey Sharks, the team was founded in 1997 and joined the league now known as the AMNRL for its inaugural 1998 season. Despite the name, the team was based not in New Jersey but in nearby Levittown in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. They adopted their current name for the 2007 season. In 2010 the Sharks suspended operations and did not compete during the 2010 season. The following year they announced their plans to return for the 2011 season.

Famous quotes containing the words bucks, county and/or sharks:

I’m a very smart guy. I haven’t a feeling or a scruple in the world. All I have the itch for is money. I am so money greedy that for twenty-five bucks a day and expenses, mostly gasoline and whisky, I do my thinking myself, what there is of it; I risk my whole future, the hatred of the cops ... I dodge bullets and eat saps, and say thank you very much, if you have any more trouble, I hope you’ll think of me, I’ll just leave one of my cards in case anything comes up.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

Don’t you know there are 200 temperance women in this county who control 200 votes. Why does a woman work for temperance? Because she’s tired of liftin’ that besotted mate of hers off the floor every Saturday night and puttin’ him on the sofa so he won’t catch cold. Tonight we’re for temperance. Help yourself to them cloves and chew them, chew them hard. We’re goin’ to that festival tonight smelling like a hot mince pie.
    Laurence Stallings (1894–1968)

Nobody had ever instructed him that a slave-ship, with a procession of expectant sharks in its wake, is a missionary institution, by which closely-packed heathen are brought over to enjoy the light of the Gospel.
    Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811–1896)
