Famous quotes containing the words bruce and/or davidson:

Life is a bridge. Cross over it, but build no house on it.
Indian proverb, quoted in Bruce Chatwin, The Songlines, ch. 30, “From the Notebooks” (1987)

Seraphs and saints with one great voice
Welcomed that soul that knew not fear.
Amazed to find it could rejoice,
Hell raised a hoarse, half-human cheer.
    —John Davidson (1857–1909)
