Former Routes

Note that the "B" prefix was not added until the mid-1970s, and, on December 11, 1988, some of the Brooklyn "B" routes primarily in Queens were redesignated as "Q" routes.

B3K Avenue U Subway shuttle during reconstruction of Avenue U and Neck Road stations from 2008 to 2010.
B5 Kings Highway, Bay Parkway, Cropsey Avenue Merged with B50 into B82 in 1995.
B10 Marcus Garvey Boulevard (ex-Sumner Avenue), Lewis Avenue, New Lots Avenue Route still exists. When extended to JFK Airport in 1993, route was renumbered to B15 to avoid confusion with the Q10.

Manhattan Bridge Became an extension of the B63; later the B51. The B51 was discontinued in June 2010.
B18 Metropolitan Avenue, Morgan Avenue, Wyckoff Avenue, Cypress Avenue Begun November 30, 1931 by Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit.

Merged into an extended B13 on September 8, 2002 west of Myrtle Avenue (east of it was discontinued). Remainder of route discontinued in 2010 except for short segment between Ridgewood Terminal and Wyckoff Heights Hospital.

B30 East Williamsburg, Meeker Avenue - Sunnyside, Queens, via Humboldt Street, Kingsland Avenue, Greenpoint Avenue, Review Avenue, 48 Street Discontinued 1995. Created prior from portions of B29 that were not merged into the B24.
B33 Hamilton Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Parkside Avenue, Ocean Avenue Discontinued 1993
B34 Bay Ridge Avenue, 13 Avenue, 86 Street Replaced by extended B1 in 1978. Currently part of B1 and B64 routes.
B36S Sea Gate shuttle loop Discontinued 1988
B37 3 Avenue Discontinued June 27, 2010 due to budget crisis, B70 rerouted to cover portion south of Bay Ridge Av.
B40 Broadway, Ralph Avenue, Liberty Avenue Route discontinued September 8, 2002. Ralph Avenue portion merged with B78 at that time to form current B47.

Empire Boulevard, Kingston Avenue, Brooklyn Avenue, Throop Avenue, Tompkins Avenue, Division Avenue Merged in 1995 with B62 to form the B43 route.

B51 Manhattan Bridge, Lafayette Street/St. James Place Discontinued June 27, 2010 due to budget crisis.

B55 Myrtle Avenue Route still exists. Renumbered to Q55 in 1988.
B56 Jamaica Avenue Route still exists. Renumbered to Q56 in 1988.
B58 Fresh Pond Road, Grand Avenue, Corona Avenue Route still exists. Renumbered to Q58 in 1988.

Flushing Avenue, Graham Avenue Graham Avenue portion merged with former B47 to form B43 in 1995. Flushing Avenue portion discontinued same time.

B71 Union Street, Eastern Parkway Discontinued June 27, 2010 due to budget crisis.
B72 Junction Boulevard Transferred to Triboro Coach Corporation in 1961, renumbered Q72.

B86 86 Street and 4 Avenue - Manhattan Beach, Kingsborough Community College, via 86 Street, Brighton Beach Avenue Proposed in 1980s. Did not run until 2010, when B1 assumed this routing.
B88 "Culture Bus Loop II" in Manhattan and Brooklyn Discontinued in the late 1970s
B101 Supposed to run between Kings Highway and East 16 Street Station to Avenue L and East 74 Street Never implemented, proposed by Pioneer Bus in 1970s.
Service between Grand Street in Manhattan and DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn Established when the north side of the Manhattan Bridge closed for construction on July 22, 2001; suspended after the September 11th attacks due to street closures; not resumed due to low ridership.
