Scott Grainger, Jr. first appeared On March 8, 1991 after being born onscreen as the son of Lauren Fenmore and Scott Grainger, Sr. The role was portrayed by various child actors for the first few years of the character's life, including infant twins Jessica and Hannah Gist from 1991 to 1993, followed by Joseph David Tello from 1993 to 1994. Gemini Barnett also portrayed the role briefly in 1994. The character returned in August 2005 after an 11-year absence, portrayed by actor Blair Redford. The character departed again in January 2006.

History
Lauren Fenmore gave birth to Scotty while divorced from Scotty's father, Scott. Upon Scotty's birth, he was stolen by Lauren's arch-enemy, Sheila Carter, who switched Scotty with another baby after the death of her own baby in order to convince Scott that she had given birth to their child. Meanwhile, Lauren went on believing another baby, Dylan Fenmore, was the baby she had given birth to until a year later when the truth came out about Sheila's baby switch after the death of Dylan. When the truth came out, Scott and Sheila separated and eventually divorced then Scott and Lauren remarried and maintained a stable marriage until Scott's death in 1993. Lauren sent Scotty away to boarding school in 1994 to keep him safe from Sheila, who still claimed Scotty as her own child. In 2005, Scotty (now going by his father's name Scott) was a college student in Toronto, Canada and unknowingly began a writing partnership with Sheila, who had located him and used the alias name of Jennifer Mitchell. Sheila eventually helped Scott Jr. write a story and fed him the true facts of her situations with Lauren and Scott, Sr. without divulging the info was truly about her, Lauren and Scott, Sr. In the following months, Sheila's identity was revealed after she and Scott, Jr. returned to Genoa City as Sheila undercover began taunting Lauren again. Scott fell out with Sheila after learning who she really is and returned to Toronto.

In 2012, after Daisy Carter was released from prison, Lauren sent Scott's brother Fenmore Baldwin to stay with him for a little while.
