British Columbia Summer Swimming Association - Regions and Clubs

Regions and Clubs

The organization is composed of 60 teams from around the province of British Columbia, with two exceptions. One team is located in Yukon Territory, Canada, and a second is located in Washington, USA.

For early season competitions and organizational administration, the province is divided into eight regions: Cariboo, Fraser South, Fraser Valley, Kootenay, Okanagan, Simon Fraser, Vancouver and District, and Vancouver Island.

Famous quotes containing the words regions and/or clubs:

    Within the regions of the air,
    Compassed about with heavens fair,
    Great tracts of land there may be found
    Enriched with fields and fertile ground;
    Where many numerous hosts
    In those far distant coasts,
    For other great and glorious ends,
    Inhabit, my yet unknown friends.
    Thomas Traherne (1636–1674)

    Neighboring farmers and visitors at White Sulphur drove out occasionally to watch ‘those funny Scotchmen’ with amused superiority; when one member imported clubs from Scotland, they were held for three weeks by customs officials who could not believe that any game could be played with ‘such elongated blackjacks or implements of murder.’
    —For the State of West Virginia, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
