xkcd has been recognized at the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards. In the 2008 Awards, it was nominated for "Outstanding Use of the Medium," "Outstanding Short Form Comic," and "Outstanding Comedic Comic," and won "Outstanding Single Panel Comic." xkcd was also voted Best Comic Strip by readers in the 2007 Weblog Awards and 2008 Weblog Awards. It was also nominated for a 2009 NewNowNext Award in the category 'OMFG Internet Award'. Randall Munroe was nominated for the 2011 Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist.
