Blind Pew

Blind Pew can refer to:

  • Pew, a blind ex-pirate of savage disposition, from Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island (1882). The character is never named "Blind Pew" in the book, but simply "Pew" (although he is twice referred to as "the blind man, Pew"). The character has, however, frequently been given the name "Blind Pew" in cinematic adaptations of the novel. In Stevenson's 1892 play Admiral Guinea (written with W. E. Henley) essentially the same character appears, given the full name "David Pew".

Pew's surname is supposedly derived from that of John Pew, a man buried in the kirkyard of South Leith Parish Church.

  • Blind Pew (band), the Scottish band formed in 2003.

Famous quotes containing the word blind:

The true, prescriptive artist strives after artistic truth; the lawless artist, following blind instinct, after an appearance of naturalness. The one leads to the highest peaks of art, the other to its lowest depths.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)
