In 2009, a stadium with a capacity of 10,000 people was constructed for Australian rules football and cricket. It is the current training and administration base for the Greater Western Sydney Giants which entered the Australian Football League in 2012. The venue hosted one AFL Premiership game, between GWS and West Coast, in Round 3, 2012. The Giants primary home ground, Skoda Stadium, was being upgraded and was unavailable. The venue has also been used for pre-season matches featuring both GWS and the Sydney Swans.

The Giants will be moving their main training facility to Sydney Olympic Park in 2013, but have committed to retaining a presence at BISP.

Famous quotes containing the words cricket and/or stadium:

The thing that struck me forcefully was the feeling of great age about the place. Standing on that old parade ground, which is now a cricket field, I could feel the dead generations crowding me. Here was the oldest settlement of freedmen in the Western world, no doubt. Men who had thrown off the bands of slavery by their own courage and ingenuity. The courage and daring of the Maroons strike like a purple beam across the history of Jamaica.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

In their eyes I have seen
the pin men of madness in marathon trim
race round the track of the stadium pupil.
    Patricia K. Page (b. 1916)
