There are many societies and clubs, such as Women's Institute, Scouts, amateur dramatics, sports and fitness clubs, and a croquet club. The football team in Blackmore is Spartak Blackmore F.C.

Famous quotes containing the words society and, society and/or leisure:

    William James (1842–1910)

I prefer surveying for a week to spending a week in fashionable society even of the best class.
    Ellen Henrietta Swallow Richards (1842–1911)

We are more thoroughly an enlightened people, with respect to our political interests, than perhaps any other under heaven. Every man among us reads, and is so easy in his circumstances as to have leisure for conversations of improvement and for acquiring information.
    Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)
