Blackavar - Hutch Rabbits

Hutch Rabbits

  • Clover: A strong and active Angora doe, who mates with Hawkbit and provides the Watership Down warren with its second known litter. In the movie, Clover and the hutch rabbits are all recaptured soon after their escape and are never seen again. In the TV series, she is the only rabbit to escape from the farm.
  • Boxwood: A "black and white Himalayan" buck, and Haystack's mate.
  • Haystack: A Himalayan doe who is Boxwood's mate.
  • Laurel: A "short-haired black Angora" buck. He is freed by the Watership rabbits along with the other hutch rabbits, but is recaptured soon after.

Note: normally, Angora rabbits never are short haired. It seems that no one knows who mated with who but the book suggests that it was Clover and Holly, Bigwig and Thethuthinnang, Hazel and Hyzenthlay and Fiver and Vilthuril.

Famous quotes containing the word rabbits:

In spite of the roaring of the young lions at the Union, and the screaming of the rabbits in the home of the vivisector, in spite of Keble College, and the tramways, and the sporting prints, Oxford still remains the most beautiful thing in England, and nowhere else are life and art so exquisitely blended, so perfectly made one.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
