Bishops' Blue Coat Church of England High School - The School Council

The School Council

The school has a long standing School Council which was originally established in 2002. It aims to provide a forum for pupils to become partners in their own education and make a positive contribution to the school environment and ethos. It aims to:

  • Improve academic performance
  • Reduce bullying and vandalism
  • Reduce school exclusions
  • Improve teacher-pupil relations

The Deputy Headteacher oversees the work of the council and arranges meetings, minutes and liaison with the Governor Pupils’ Committee and others affected by the Council’s work. The Council consists of 2 councilors per year group. The school does not currently have a school council due to the change from a science college to an academy.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or council:

Green, green is El Aghir. It has a railway station,
And the wealth of its soil has borne many another fruit:
A mairie, a school and an elegant Salle de Fetes.
Such blessings, as I remarked, in effect, to the waiter,
Are added unto them that have plenty of water.
    Norman Cameron (b. 1905)

I haven’t seen so much tippy-toeing around since the last time I went to the ballet. When members of the arts community were asked this week about one of their biggest benefactors, Philip Morris, and its requests that they lobby the New York City Council on the company’s behalf, the pas de deux of self- justification was so painstakingly choreographed that it constituted a performance all by itself.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
