Biomedical Engineering Society

BMES (the Biomedical Engineering Society) was founded on February 1, 1968 "to promote the increase of biomedical engineering knowledge and its utilization." It is active primarily in America.

BMES publishes the Annals of Biomedical Engineering, a monthly academic journal, and organizes a yearly academic conference, the BMES Annual Fall Meeting.

Famous quotes containing the words engineering and/or society:

Mining today is an affair of mathematics, of finance, of the latest in engineering skill. Cautious men behind polished desks in San Francisco figure out in advance the amount of metal to a cubic yard, the number of yards washed a day, the cost of each operation. They have no need of grubstakes.
Merle Colby, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

... artists were intended to be an ornament to society. As a society in themselves they are unthinkable.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)
