Death
On December 20, 1998, Johal was attending the Palladium Nightclub, on Richards Street, in Vancouver, unaccompanied by his body guards. Johal was shot behind the ear at point-blank range. The perpetrator evaded identification and capture by blending into the crowd. Johal died at 4:30am on December 20, 1998 at Vancouver General Hospital. Although Bal Buttar claimed to have paid $20,000 to arrange Johal's death, as of May 2012, his murder remains unsolved.
