LEGENDS OF RAJASTHAN

PRITHVI RAJ CHAUHAN

Prithvi Raj Chauhan belonged to a hindu rajput dynasty. He was born in 1168 to Someshwara Chauhan and Karpuravalli. He became the king at a very small age of 11years after his father’s death.Delhi and Ajmer were his twin capitals. Prithviraj Chauhan was an adventurous ,romantic and brave person.Almost all of the Rajasthan and Haryana were under his control. He loved sanyogita, the daughter of Jai Chandra, the king of Kannauj .He eloped and married with her. His romantic tale is very popular in India.

Not only this the tales of his bravery are even more famous. He defeated the Afghan ruler Muhammad Ghori in the first battle of tarain in 1191.

But in the second battle Prithvi raj chauhan was defeated and captured. His eyes were pierced with burning irons and he became blind but he did not give up his courage. He could hit the target just by hearing the sound(like arjuna in Mahabharata). It is said that Muhammad Ghori organized an archery competition and Prithviraj chauhan also participated in that.He targeted Muhammad ghori when he was speaking about the winners of the competition and was killed. The soldiers of Muhammed ghori caught Prithviraj chauhan and his friend Chand bardoi. To escape punishment from enemies they both stabbed each other. With Prithvi’s death the period of a brave king came to an end in 1192. But a poem written by Chand(who was a poet) has immortalized the bravery and romance of Prithviraj chauhan.

  • Simply modifying copyrighted text is not sufficient to avoid copyright infringement—if the original copyright violation cannot be cleanly removed or the article reverted to a prior version, it is best to write the article from scratch. (See Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing.)
  • For license compliance, any content used from the original article must be properly attributed; if you use content from the original, please leave a note at the top of your rewrite saying as much. You may duplicate non-infringing text that you had contributed yourself.
  • It is always a good idea, if rewriting, to identify the point where the copyrighted content was imported to Wikipedia and to check to make sure that the contributor did not add content imported from other sources. When closing investigations, clerks and administrators may find other copyright problems than the one identified. If this material is in the proposed rewrite and cannot be easily removed, the rewrite may not be usable.

Famous quotes containing the word introduction:

For the introduction of a new kind of music must be shunned as imperiling the whole state; since styles of music are never disturbed without affecting the most important political institutions.

Do you suppose I could buy back my introduction to you?

We used chamber-pots a good deal.... My mother ... loved to repeat: “When did the queen reign over China?” This whimsical and harmless scatological pun was my first introduction to the wonderful world of verbal transformations, and also a first perception that a joke need not be funny to give pleasure.
