Programmes

Bergen International Film Festival is organised in various sections:

• Cinema Extraordinare, a program for foreign fiction film. A special selection compete for the Cinema Extraordinare Award, which is awarded by a Norwegian jury.

• Documentary Program, with a special selection competing for the best documentary award.

• Checkpoints, a special program that BIFF host with the Rafto Foundation for Human Rights, with documentaries focusing on human rights. Since 2010, a jury has awarded a winner from a special selection.

• Musikalske takter, a program consisting of musical documentaries and concert films.

• Vestland, Vestland, a program showcasing the best of film production in the wester part of Norway.

• Norwegian Short Film Competition, a special program of short films, where filmmakers have to apply before being accepted.
