Ben Sahar - Military

Military

As an Israeli citizen, Sahar was due to return back to Israel for a three-year spell of national service. However, Israeli law makers were working on a legislation (nicknamed "The Ben Sahar Law") that would have allowed Sahar to complete a civil service term in Britain instead. The law did not pass and as a result, Sahar was drafted into the IDF. Under the terms of his military service, he will go to his base every time he is on vacation in Israel.

Famous quotes containing the word military:

Stately as a galleon, I sail across the floor,
Doing the military two-step, as in the days of yore.
    Joyce Grenfell (1910–1979)

The military and the clergy cause us much annoyance; the clergy and the military, they empty our wallets and rob our intelligence.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

Nothing changes my twenty-six years in the military. I continue to love it and everything it stands for and everything I was able to accomplish in it. To put up a wall against the military because of one regulation would be doing the same thing that the regulation does in terms of negating people.
    Margarethe Cammermeyer (b. 1942)
