BBC Guide To Comedy

The BBC Guide to Comedy was a former subsite of bbc.co.uk which offered "Info on every TV comedy shown in the UK, from 1936 to today..."

Written and researched by Mark Lewisohn, the content of the site was first available as a book The Radio Times Guide to Comedy in 1998. The site offered information about the majority of comedy programmes and sitcoms produced by the main channels in the United Kingdom, many obscure, and featured in depth reviews of popular programmes. The site also featured video clips, viewable in RealPlayer, and a small gallery of cast photographs or screenshots. It was replaced by a smaller, less detailed guide in 2007, which only focusses on successful BBC programmes, and which as of 2009 the corporation appears to have given up updating, leaving many of their shows unlisted.

Famous quotes containing the words bbc and/or guide:

To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a computer.
—Anonymous. quoted in “Quote Unquote,” Feb. 22, 1982, BBC Radio 4.

With my desire to write he seemed in full sympathy, and in urging our early marriage he argued that my first necessity was leisure in which to develop and to master my craft. It appeared to me that with such a man as teacher and guide I could not fail, and it was in a queer mixture of young love and vaulting ambition that I became a wife.
