Baby (Ashanti Song)
"Baby" is the third single by American R&B singer Ashanti from her debut album. It was written by Ashanti, Irving Lorenzo, Andre Parker, Brad Jordan, Mike Dean and producer 7 Aurelius. It contains musically interpolates of Scarface's "Mary Jane" which was also ghosted produced by 7 Aurelius. A remix of the song also features Scarface.
The song was released as the album's third and final single on November 17, 2002 (see 2002 in music). Not reaching the success of her previous singles, Baby reached number fiftteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. The song became Ashanti's first single to not reach the top ten on the "Hot 100" but is her fourth top ten entry on the Hot R&B Songs chart. The song only managed to chart at numbers forty-eight and eighty-nine on the Netherlands and Germany charts.
