| Category 4 | Community teams, University, Old Scholar and Technical/re-entry college teams.

| Category 3 | Senior Seconday, consists of Secondary School students under the age of 19 before Round 1

| Category 2 | Junior Secondary, consists of Secondary School students under the age of 16 before Round 1.

| Category 1 | Primary, consists of Primary School students only. (Year 6 & 7)

From 2006 a division for all Female teams was added to Categories 1, 2 & 3.
