Australian Drivers' Championship

The Australian Drivers' Championship is a motor racing championship which has been contested annually since 1957 by drivers of cars complying with Australia's premier open-wheeler racing category as determined by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. Since 2005 this category has been Formula 3 and competes as part of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships as the Formula 3 Australian Drivers' Championship. Each year, the winner is awarded the CAMS Gold Star.

It is the second oldest continuously awrded trophy in Australian motorsport, only the Australian Grand Prix (since 1928) and the intermittently awarded Australian Tourist Trophy (since 1956) are older. While originally intended to be the premier prize for domestic motor racing it has faded in importance over-time and since the 1980s has been effectively a feeder series for sedans based series Australian Touring Car Championship and V8 Supercars, or a launch pad for drivers to start international careers.
